Iquique is a harbour city and capital of  I Región of Tapapacá
It has got 145139 inhabitants and is situated at 1845 km from Santiago de Chile and at 307 from Arica

Although it is considered to be a new city it has important architectural work, an example of this is the City Hall Theatre which is the world biggest exporter of fish flour
It is also given enhancement to the historical events during the Pacific War and the buoy in the coast  symbolizes the place where the Esmeralda sank in the year 1879
It is a tax free port and also the biggest free zone tax in South América with 240 hectares full of malls and storehouses
If you are just looking for fun, this city could offer a lot of discos and restaurants and it has also got a casino, but if you prefer going out from the city you may also visit the abandoned   saltpetre places  such as Humberstone or the town of Pica.
