Puyehue city is situated at 47 km from Osorno city, its name means place of puyes. It has 15700 hectares and 135 metres of  depth.

It had been first seen in 1553 in one of Francisco de Villagra´s expedition.
The Panamericana highway goes along Puyehue lake and it is at 10 km from Rupanco Lake. Here the tourist will find the best thermal spa in the south and watch the Antillanca volcano
