The north region
The north region of Chile goes over the regions of Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama and Coquimba. Covering a vast territory of great and imposing contrast.
This region is mainly arid and dry in the zone of the Atacama Desert but it is also contrasted by its valleys, oasis, parks and museums that are protected such as Lauca, Islupa and Salasar de Surire…
Other landscapes introduced in this region are the Salar of Atacama, Los Geysers de El tatío and thermal sources.
The most remarkable and notorious in this region are the metal sites (copper, silver, gold, iron) and non-metallic (sodium, calcium and quartz), arqueological , natural and cultural. It is also one of the biggest fishing centers of the country. The main profitable activities are the fishing and the mine. This zone is where it can be found a great variety of vegetation .The typical vegetation are brushwood, rare trees and different kinds of herbs.
