Patagonia
The Andes exhibit their greatness in the Patagonian provinces. Millenarian and silent forests, with autochthonous vegetal species, extend at the side of the water mirrors. At the top of the mountains, the nature overflow in granite peaks and ice fields that pour its glacier tongues into lakes of unequalled beauty.
Imposing mammals and sea birds live some seasons on the wild Patagonian coasts where they carry out part of their life cycle. Sea lions’ colonies play on small islands and ledges of rocks. Southern sea elephants have at Península Valdés the most important continental dockyard of the world, a magic place that is punctually visited by the right whales to procreate (Nuevo and San José Gulfs). Maras (Patagonian hares), American ostriches and guanacos run through steppes and the biggest Magallanes’ penguins’ colony of the world nestle in Punta Tombo.
The visitor’s dumb stare contemplates this cadence that repeats from immemorial times. At the south, the Fire’s Land (Tierra del Fuego) and the most southerly city in the world, Ushuaia, an open door to the huge and mysterious Antártida.
