The city of El Chaltén, founded in 1985 by the National Govern has recently been declared the National Capital of Trekking. It is situated in the valley of rio de las Vuelta-, below  Fitz Roy Hill.  Fitz Roy Hill is called “Chalten” by its tehuelches Indians which  means the “mountain which smokes since its top is always covered by clouds and it seems to be a volcano in activity.

From there, the tourist could visit different wonderful places such as Laguna y Glaciar -Torre , laguna Capri, Glaciar Piedras Blancas and  Chorrillo del Salto. There is also a unique attraction , La Laguna de los Tres, which can be reached after climbing for 4 ½ 5 hours but it is worth going  since it is one of the most wonderful views  a person has ever expèrienced.
